An addition to a house is a total loss following an early morning fire in rural Round Lake. The Round Lake Fire Department was dispatched at 6:31 a.m. Tuesday to the Jeff Markus residence, 33517 Town Ave. According to Round Lake Fire Chief Mike Smith, the structure — a recreation room addition only attached to the home by a breezeway — was fully engulfed by the time the firefighters arrived. The Bigelow Fire Department was later called for mutual aid to provide more water. (Jesse Trelstad/Daily Globe)
