Winners announced in Worthington's Holiday Lighting Contest

WORTHINGTON — The Community Improvement Committee of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, The Globe and Worthington Public Utilities, co-sponsors of the annual Holiday Lighting Contest, announce the contest’s winners.

Homes were judged on best use of color, most original, best composition, most spectacular and best expression of Christmas. The residential winners are:

First place ($100 off December utility bill and $100 in Chamber checks): Darcy and Todd Poppema, 1537 Okabena St.

Second place ($75 off December utility bill and $75 in Chamber checks): Ana Garcia, 1101 McMillan St.

Third place ($50 off December utility bill and $50 in Chamber checks): Jose De La Cruz Quijano Duran, 1512 Third Ave.

Honorable mentions were given to the following: 1721 Miller, 911 Omaha, 1941 Cecilee, 1904 Summit, 701 Ninth St., 1016 West Lake, 1013 Humiston, 1210 Elmwood, 2430 Dayton Drive, 852 Winifred, 807 Clement, 1101 McMillan, 909 McMillan and 200 Lake St.

Shear Expressions, 691 10th Ave., was named the business winner, and will receive $100 off its December utility bill and $100 off its 2017 Chamber dues. Honorable mentions were given to Dingmann Funeral Home, United Prairie Bank and Ecumen Meadows.
