18U softball: Worthington wins Mankato tournament

MANKATO — Worthington’s 18U girls softball team topped New Ulm 14-11 to win the weekend Mankato Rising Stars Tournament.

Becca Linder had two home runs in the championship game while McKenna Schreier went 4-for-4 and Brooke Henning 2-for-3.

Ida Rogers-Ferguson was the winning pitcher.

Worthington advanced to the championship game after beating Mankato 12-3, Blue Earth 16-4 and St. Peter 2-1 in earlier contests.

Linder homered in the Mankato game while Rebecca Kazemba went 3-for-3 and Kameron Kroh went 2-for-3.

Molly Dunn was the winning pitcher.

Against Blue Earth, Linder was 3-for-3. Rogers-Ferguson took the win in the circle.

Dunn was the winner against St. Peter in a game that resorted to international rules to find a winner (due to a time limit). Bailey Grussing drove in Rogers-Ferguson for the game-winner.

Kazemba added two more hits in the game.
