Adrian teen charged with criminal sexual conduct
LUVERNE -- In Rock County District Court Thursday, bail was set at $10,000 for an Adrian teen charged with first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Cody Alan Klooster, who will be 19 next month, is accused of having sex with a girl under the age of 13.
The complaint states the victim dated Klooster for approximately a month.
She said Klooster told her he was 16 years old when they met, but when she found out his real age and heard rumors of him having sexual relations with other young girls, she broke up with him.
She said she and Klooster had sex one time in late May or early June.
One of the other girls rumored to have had sex with Klooster was interviewed, and she denied any contact but indicated Klooster had told her he had sex with the victim.
During an interview with a Rock County deputy, Klooster allegedly admitted to dating the girl and having sex with her one time, but denied intercourse with any other girls under the age of 16.
The maximum penalty for first-degree criminal sexual conduct is 30 years in prison and/or $40,000 in fines.
Court documents indicate Klooster has retained attorney Daniel Birkholz.
Klooster's conditions of release include the bail/bond amount of $10,000 and no contact with persons under the age of 18.
