HADLEY -- Zach Bruns went seven innings giving up two unearned runs on four hits to lead the Hadley Buttermakers to an 8-2 win over the Minneota Mudhens during a Gopher League baseball game Monday.


With the game tied at two in the Mudhens tied it up in the third only to have the Buttermakers pile on six runs in the next two innings to take control of the game.

Five Hadley batters came away with two hits in the game.

The Buttermakers (3-2, 3-0) travel to Worthington Wednesday.

Heron Lake 5, Worthington 4

WORTHINGTON -- Rallying with four runs in the ninth and 10th innings Monday evening, the Heron Lake Lakers claimed a 5-4 victory over the Worthington Cubs in a First Nite League amateur baseball game.

Matt Franks pitched nine solid innings for Heron Lake, allowing three runs (all unearned) on eight hits and four walks while striking out six batters to earn the win. Alex Meyer pitched the 10th inning to notch the save.

Lucas Knutson and Ike Rogers each had an RBI single late in the game for the Lakers, while Kirk McBreen stroked an RBI double in the third inning. Tony Jorgensen and Ben Scheevel also had base hits for Heron Lake.

Adam Munkel pitched seven strong innings for Worthington, fanning six batters and allowing one unearned run on two hits and six walks. Mitch Jensen and Nate Jensen pitched in relief for the Cubs.

Eric Koob was 3-for-5 to lead Worthington at the plate. Adam Munkel was 2-for-4, while Joey Kinley, Josh Wasmund, Dan Bruns and Jared Kinley each had a base hit for the Cubs.

Heron Lake (3-1, 2-1) travels to play Minneota Wednesday night. Worthington (1-3, 1-3) is scheduled to host Hadley Wednesday and plays at Wilmont Friday.
