Amateur Baseball: Cardinals knock off Mudhens
WILMONT -- Joe Arens pitched seven and one-third innings while allowing one unearned run on six hits to lead the Wilmont Cardinals to a 4-1 win over the Minneota Mudhens during an amateur baseball game Monday.
The Cardinals scored first in the fourth inning and then added two more runs in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead. The Mudhens scored a run of their own in the eighth, but the Cardinals tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.
Adam Diekmann picked up the save for the Cardinals, going one and two-third innings with two strike outs and allowing three hits.
Joe Krivarchka hit a two RBI double in the sixth, while Blake Rogers hit in another run on a single.
The Cardinals (7-2, 6-2) travel to Luverne Wednesday and then head to Worthington Friday.
