HERON LAKE -- Scoring a trio of runs in the final two innings Sunday afternoon, the fourth-seeded Fox Lake Foxes rallied to earn a two-run victory over the third-seeded Heron Lake Lakers in an elimination game of the First Nite League amateur baseball playoffs at Laker Field.

Fox Lake, which moves on to play Windom Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Jackson, scored two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to come back from a narrow 1-0 deficit.

Heron Lake, which ends the season with a record of 12-16, scored its only run in the bottom of the first inning. Kirk McBreen reached on a two-out error and scored on an RBI single to left field by Ike Rogers to give the Lakers a quick 1-0 lead.

Twelve consecutive scoreless half innings ensued, as Heron Lake maintained a slim 1-0 lead all the way until the top of the eighth. Fox Lake's Brennan Holm and Heron Lake's Ben Scheevel were simply locked in a pitchers' duel, as both right-handers hurled a complete game and worked three and four 1-2-3 innings, respectively.
