By then, the damage had been done. The Bulls finished the game early with a pair of runs in the seventh to take an 11-1 win.

A five-run third gave Jackson all the leverage it really needed. The Cubs scored a run in the fifth, but it wasn’t enough.

Ryan Rasche got the win in relief for the Bulls. He allowed one earned run and struck out three over three innings of work. Andy Wolf was 4-for-5 with two doubles to lead them at the plate.

Adam Munkel went six innings and allowed four earned runs for the Cubs in taking the loss. He struck out two in the effort. He was also 2-for-4 at the plate. Ryan Swanson went 1-for-4 with a double.

The Cubs will host Fairmont at 5 p.m. Sunday in their home opener.
