Amateur baseball: Hadley rallies late to beat Cubs
HADLEY -- The summer has been unforgiving for the Worthington Cubs.
The Cubs dropped another close game Sunday, 7-6, to the Hadley Buttermakers. They are 1-7 on the season.
On Sunday, Worthington led 6-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning where the Buttermakers scored three times. Trent Carlson had a walk-off one-out single to end the game.
Jamie Boelter came on in relief to earn the victory, going one and two-thirds innings.
Nate and Eric Wieneke both went 2-for-4 for Hadley and Nick Bruning had two doubles and two RBI.
For Worthington, Cody Melendrez went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a two-run home run. Mitchell Jensen also went 3-for-4. Joe Joswiak hit a two-run home run. Ethan Duffy and Josh Wasmund drove in a run apiece.

Heron Lake at
WATKINS --The Heron Lake Lakers lost a pair of games Saturday at the third annual Highway 55 Tournament.
Hibbing beat the Lakers 10-1 in their first game despite two hits apiece by Lucas Knutson and Eric Milbrath. Alex Meyer, Luke Henkels and Eric Milbrath, who had the Lakers' only other hit, handled pitching duties.
In their next game, the Lakers got a solid seven-inning pitching performance from Matt Franks, who struck out seven batters and allowed just one unearned run in a 1-0 loss to Sartell. Heron Lake stranded 10 baserunners.
The Lakers are now 6-5 on the season and play at Fairmont Wednesday night.

Hadley 13, Tracy 1
HADLEY -- Nick Bruning, Eric Wieneke, Max Zwart and Nate Wieneke all went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Hadley to a 13-1 win over Tracy on Saturday in a seven-inning game.
The Buttermakers collected 20 hits in the game. Bruning and Eric Wieneke drove in two runs apiece and Zwart hit a pair of doubles.
Justin Reinsma got the mound win for the Buttermakers.

HADLEY -- On Sunday, Hadley edged Fox Lake as Joe Larson went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Zwart had a pair of hits.
Hadley scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Bruning was the winning pitcher in relief.

WINDOM -- Jackson collected 18 hits in drubbing Windom Sunday.
Andy Wolf was 4-for-5 with three doubles and four RBI, Ryan Rasche was 3-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI and Zac Copley was 3-for-4 with a double.
For Windom, Brett Mattson had three hits, Brett Oltmanns was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, and Kirby Johnson hit a two-run single.
Rasche was the winning pitcher.
