SEARLES -- Rob Peterson did it all for the Southwest Barnstormers' amateur baseball team over the weekend, picking up the win on the mound and contributing a pair of doubles and an RBI in a 9-3 victory against Searles.

Peterson (four innings pitched, six hits, no earned runs) was relieved by Mickey Sehr (three innings pitched, one run), who picked up a save.

Sehr led the Barnstromers' offense by going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Mike Wenninger was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Ryan Beers was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

The Barnstormers are now 4-2-1.

Fox Lake 5, Heron Lake 3

HERON LAKE -- Manufacturing a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning Sunday afternoon, the Fox Lake Foxes broke a tie score (3-3) and claimed a two-run victory over the Heron Lake Lakers in a First Nite League amateur baseball game at Laker Field.

Sunday's game marked the end of the regular season for both teams, as the First Nite League playoffs begin Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. Heron Lake (11-14, 8-10) is seeded third in the six-team tournament and plays sixth-seeded Mountain Lake in Jackson, while Fox Lake (No. 4) and Windom (No. 5) play in Windom.

The top two teams in the league -- No. 1 Fairmont and No. 2 Jackson -- received first-round byes and will host Wednesday's winners Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Heron Lake or Mountain Lake will play at Jackson, while Fox Lake or Windom will travel to Fairmont.

Martin Tow (2-for-5) and Steven Zehms (2-for-4) each contributed with an infield single in the ninth inning to help the Foxes score the go-ahead runs. Five other players collected a base hit apiece for Fox Lake, and Zehms (seven strikeouts, two walks) worked seven strong innings on the mound before Joey Fitzgerald hurled a pair of scoreless frames to earn the win.

Matt Franks (one strikeout, no walks) twirled seven effective innings for Heron Lake, permitting seven hits and three runs. Alex Meyer pitched the last two innings and struck out the side in order during the eighth.

Kirk McBreen was 3-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored for Heron Lake, while Meyer went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Tony Jorgensen (RBI), Ike Rogers, Evan Place (run) and Octavio Jimenez each added a base hit for the Lakers, who led 3-2 after the sixth inning.

Hadley 10, Mt. Lake 1

HADLEY -- Luke Schneider tossed seven strong innings Sunday and also drove in two runs, while going 2-for-4 at the plate, leading the Hadley Buttermakers to a 10-1 Gopher League victory over Mountain Lake in amateur baseball action.

Schneider allowed just a pair of hits -- both in the fourth inning -- and walked only three batters, while striking out eight.

Mountain Lake scored an unearned run in the seventh inning before Derik Johnson and Alex Van't Hof each pitched a scoreless inning to preserve the lead for Hadley.

Kyle DeLong (2-for-3, double, RBI) joined Schneider as a multiple-hit batter for the Buttermakers, while Zach Bruns ripped a three-run double to highlight Hadley's five-run first inning and Nate Wieneke (1-for-1) blasted a two-run homer for the Buttermakers in the bottom of the eighth.

Marty Van Peursem (1-for-1) also drove in a run for Hadley, which improved to 13-12 overall and finishes 10-9 in league games.

Dusty Pfeiffer (three innings) took the pitching loss for Mountain Lake, while Beau Herrig (four innings) and Kyle Schroeder (one inning) also pitched for the Lakers.

Schroeder and Eric Johnson had Mountain Lake's two fourth-inning singles.

Milroy 4, Hadley 1

MARSHALL -- Isaac Dolan (seven innings) and Tyler Peterson (two innings) combined for a two-hitter against Hadley on Saturday, sparking the Milroy Irish to a 4-1 victory over the Buttermakers.

Andy Ogdahl, Aaron Ogdahl and Dominic Dolan (two RBIs) each had two hits to lead Milroy at the plate.

Eric Wieneke tagged a single for Hadley in the third inning and Max Zwart delivered an RBI single (driving in Zach Bruns who had walked) in the top of the fourth.

Bruns pitched all eight innings for Hadley, yielding nine hits but giving up just two earned runs. Bruns struck out three Milroy batters and walked two.
