AMATEUR BASEBALL: Saufley shines as Cardinals win
WILMONT -- Justin Saufley allowed one earned run in eight innings as the Wilmont Cardinals cruised to a 12-2 victory against Tracy in an amateur baseball game on Sunday.
Saufley allowed two runs on six hits while walking two and striking out seven in a complete-gam effort.
Jay Scheidt was 1-for-4 with four RBIs, two doubles and two stolen bases to lead the Cardinals (2-0).
Josh Wasmund was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, while Nate Stoll was 1-for-3 with a two-run double.
Jesse Teerink, Saufley and Nick Ahrens each had a single for Wilmont, which will host Milroy on Wednesday.

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- A pair of runs early proved to be the difference as the A's held on for a two-run victory against Mountain Lake.
Jason Stubbe recorded the victory for Adrian (2-0), allowing two earned runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out five in 7 2-3 innings
Jordon Kontz threw the final 1 1-3 innings and did not allow a hit.
Cody Kontz was 3-for-5 with a double for Adrian, while Levi Bullerman was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jeff Gacke and Joe Kruger each had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the A's, who will host Tracy on Wednesday.

Hadley 17, HL 10
HADLEY -- Luke Beers belted a three-run home run and Hadley defeated Heron Lake on Sunday.
Pat O'Brien, who earned the victory in the hill, had four hits and scored twice, while Luke Schneider had two hits, drove in two runs, scored twice and drew two walks. Max Zwart had three hits, including a double, and drove in a run for the Buttermakers.
Lucas Knutson was 2-for-5 with a pair of runs, an RBI, walk and a stolen base, while Kirk McBreen was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, two walks and a stolen base for the Lakers.
HL's Octavio Jimenez was 1-for-3 with three runs, while Ben Scheevel drove in a run and scored and Ike Rogers had an RBI.

HERON LAKE -- With two outs in the bottom of the 13th inning, Kirk McBreen hit a single to score Octavio Jimenez, giving the Lakers a marathon victory Saturday
Lon Eichenberger earned the win, throwing in relief of Ben Scheevel.
Scheevel threw the first six innings, allowing two earned runs on nine hits while striking out seven.
Eichenberger finished the game, allowing no runs on two hits while walking two in seven innings.
Jake Wahl suffered the loss, allowing one unearned run on four hits while walking three and striking out eight in 6 2-3 innings.
McBreen was 4-for-7 with an RBI and a run scored, while Eric Milbrath was 2-for-5 with a two-run single in the fourth inning.
The Lakers (1-1) will travel to Jackson on Wednesday.
