WILMONT -- Just a day removed from coaching Luverne High School's baseball team at the Class AA state tournament, Mike Wenninger again took the field Sunday -- this time, as a player.

Wenninger went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI to lead the Southwest Barnstormers in a 14-5 victory over Wilmont's amateur baseball team.

The Barnstormers, a team comprised of players from the area 35 years of age and older, led by one run before exploding for five runs in both the sixth and seventh innings.

Ryan Beers, the athletic director at Murray County Central High School and a former baseball player at the University of Minnesota, went 2-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI. Tarry Boelter, MCC's baseball coach, went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Nate Graphenteen went 2-for-4 with a double for the Barnstormers.

Josh Wasmund went 3-for-3, and Tony Jansen, Brian Harberts and Joe Ahrens each had two hits for Wilmont.

Sam Baumgartner, Worthington High School's softball coach, allowed one run on four hits while striking out two and walking one in three innings of relief to earn the win for the Barnstormers (2-0), who will travel to face Hanska and St. Peter on Sunday.

Ahrens suffered the loss for Wilmont.

Wilmont 8, Pipestone 1

WILMONT -- Nick Ahrens went 3-for-3 with three RBI, and Wilmont fended off a furious last-inning rally to defeat Pipestone.

The A's scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, cutting the deficit to one, and had runners on first and second base. But Wilmont reliever Ryan Swanson notched a strikeout -- the only out he recorded, against the second batter he faced -- to earn the save and secure the victory.

Nate Harberts earned the win for Wilmont despite walking 10 batters. He allowed seven runs on eight hits while striking out seven.

Ryan Muelbrook suffered the loss for Pipestone.

Harberts went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Jesse Teerink went 2-for-2 for the Cardinals (5-2).

Nick Schneider went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Sam Schneider went 3-for-4, and Nate Alfson hit a solo home run for Pipestone.

MARSHALL -- Joe Larson combined to go 4-for-8 with four RBI to lead Hadley's amateur baseball team in a split-doubleheader sweep against Tracy and Milroy.

Zach Bruns went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI, and Taylor Rignell went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in the Buttermakers' victory against Tracy. Larson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Paul Counter allowed three runs on five hits while walking three and striking out four in five innings to earn the win, and Justin Reinsma pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

Troy Kepler had two hits, including a double, and Jason MacKinnon had a double to lead Tracy.

Rignell went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Counter went 2-for-3 in the Buttermakers' victory against Milroy.

Kyle DeLong added a double, and Larson went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Chris Haken allowed one run on seven hits while walking one and striking out four in a complete-game effort to earn the win for Hadley (7-2), which will travel to face Wilmont on Wednesday.

Andy Ogdahl, who suffered the loss, had two hits to lead the Irish.

TRACY -- Adrian's amateur baseball team combined for 15 runs on 20 hits in a split-doubleheader sweep against Milroy and Tracy.

Brian Harms went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Jason Stubbe went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Adrian's victory against Tracy. Glen Kruger added an RBI single, and Jordon Kontz had two singles.

Cody Kontz scattered eight hits while walking none and striking out three in a complete-game shutout to earn the win.

Anthony Dolan had two hits to lead Milroy.

Harms went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Cody Kontz had two singles and an RBI, and Joe Kruger added a two-run single for Adrian. Glen Kruger had a two-run home run.

Jordon Kontz, who added a solo home run, allowed one run on seven hits while walking four and striking out five in a complete-game effort to earn the win for Adrian (11-7), which will host Mountain Lake on Wednesday.

Jackson 4, Heron Lake 1

HERON LAKE -- Trent Sukalski went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead Jackson in a three-run victory against Heron Lake on Saturday.

Ryan Rasche went 2-for-5 with a run and a stolen base, and Tom Hady drew two walks and scored two runs for the Bulls.

Nate Bruggemann allowed one run on four hits while walking two and striking out one in three and one-third innings of relief to earn the win. Caleb Rossow allowed two hits and struck out one in two scoreless innings of relief to earn the save.

Matt Franks allowed three earned runs on six hits while walking three and striking out six in a complete-game effort for the Lakers.

Jerrad Meinders went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Keith Rogers and Tony Jorgensen each added two hits for Heron Lake, which stranded 13 runners on base, including six in scoring position.

Heron Lake (4-4) will host Milroy on Saturday before traveling to face both Pipestone and Hadley on Sunday.
