Amateur Baseball: Wilmont takes down Heron Lake, Jackson
WILMONT -- Adam Diekmann and Lucas Henning each pitched a complete game and combined for 12 strikeouts to lead the Wilmont Cardinals to a 5-0 win over the Heron Lake Lakers and a 5-0 win over the Jackson Bulls Sunday.
Wilmont opened the scoring against Heron Lake in the third innings, scoring two runs before adding another run in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Alex Meyer took the loss for the Lakers, while Diekmann fanned five batters to get the win for the Cardinals.
Joe Krivarchka, Justin Saufley and Joe Ahrens each had three hits for Wilmont, while Krivarchka had a double and scored two runs.
Meyer picked up two hits to lead Heron Lake at the plate.
In the game against Jackson, Wilmont scored one run in the third before tacking on two runs in the fifth and the sixth.
Henning struck out seven batters in the game to get the win, while Ryan Rasche picked up six strike outs in the loss.
Ahrens led the Cardinals at the plate with a two-run home run. Mike Wierson had a double to lead the Bulls.
Wilmont hosts Pipestone Wednesday.

Hadley takes down Adrian, HL
HADLEY -- The Hadley Buttermakers picked up a pair of wins Sunday, defeating the Adrian A's 4-1 and the Heron Lake Lakers 9-0.
Hadley scored all four of its runs in the fifth inning, with both Max Zwart (2-for-3) Blake Jouwstra (2-for-3) picking up RBIs in the inning.
Zach Bruns recorded the win for the Buttermakers, while Ross Ackerman took the loss for Adrian.
In Game 2, Hadley took an early 3-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back. They scored two more runs in the fifth and tacked on another four runs in the sixth.
Sam Erickson picked up the win for the Buttermakers in the second game, striking out three batters while giving up three walks.
Zwart and James Wajer both went 3-for-4 against the Lakers, while Zwart knocked a 3-run home run out of the park. Joe Larson had four RBIs on two hits.
Hadley travels to Luverne Wednesday.

Fairmont knocks off Worthington
FAIRMONT -- The Worthington Cubs fell to the Fairmont Martins 10-4 Sunday.
Fairmont scored five runs in the first two innings then added another run in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead after four innings. Worthington scored the next four runs between the fifth and the sixth innings, but Fairmont added another three runs in the sixth to push their lead to four.
Adam Munkel pitched six innings, giving up six earned runs while striking out seven batters. Mitch Jensen relieved Munkel in the seventh.
Munkel, Josh Wasmund, Joe Joswiak and Nate Jensen each had two hits in the game for the Cubs, with Wasmund picking up an RBI double.
Worthington travels to Luverne for a 7:30 p.m. game Saturday.
