Barbara Chepa

Barb Chepa, the daughter of Glenn and Agnes (Sieve) Buckeye, was born on July 29, 1937 in San Francisco, CA. She and her family moved to Roll, AZ when she was a year old and in 1944 they moved to Heron Lake, MN. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from the Heron Lake High School in 1955. Barb then attended the Mankato Commercial Business School. Barb was united in marriage to Hollis Chepa on September 19, 1957 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Kinbrae, MN until 1961 when they moved into Kinbrae. Barb did upholstery work for many years and also ran the "Crossways Market" in Kinbrae. Hollis passed away in April of 2012. Barb remained at home for a short time before moving in with her daughter in Fulda, MN. Barb passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton, MN at the age of 76. She was a member of St. Gabriels Catholic Church in Fulda. Barb was the Kinbrae City clerk for 25 years. She enjoyed woodcarving, reading, painting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her 5 children, Hollis "Steve" (Susan) Chepa of Borden, IN, Beth (Rick) Wertz of Satellite Beach, FL, Brad (Penny) Chepa of Fulda, MN, Kathy (Todd) Gilman of Fulda, MN and Christy (Collin) Newton of Parkston, SD; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dorothy (Ed) Burch of Big Rapids, MI, Kathleen (Larry) Langer of St. Paul, MN and Jeanne Buckeye of St. Paul, MN; 3 brothers, Charles (Judy) Buckeye of Erie, PA, Ronald Buckeye of Prior Lake, MN and Kenneth (Laurie) Buckeye of Minneapolis, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be at St. Gabriels Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 with Fr. Andrew Vogel officiating. Interment at St. Gabriels Cemetery Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Sign guestbook online at
