PIPESTONE -- Alex Hayenga singled to start the top of the eighth, advanced on an error and Tanner Rogers knocked him in with a double to score the game winner for Worthington Legion in a 9-8 win over Pipestone Tuesday.

Nate Ray pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief and had a double and triple at the plate, while Lucas Henning had two hits and Tyler Hatterman was 3-for-4 for Worthington (13-5).

Worthington will travel to Renner, S.D., for a tournament Friday.

Edgerton 5, Luverne 4

EDGERTON -- Blake Jouwstra scored the tying run and Dominic Nibbelink scored the winning run on a Damon Vander Maten groundout in the bottom of the seventh to give Edgerton a 5-4 win over Luverne in baseball action Tuesday.

Jouwstra had two hits and scored two runs to lead Edgerton.

Connor Fitzer, Cody Christensen and Richard Gonzalez each scored runs for Luverne.

Edgerton heads to Heron Lake Friday.

Okabena 8, Slayton 2

SLAYTON -- Justin Jass struck out 13 on the mound in five innings to get the win, Alex Meyer had a two-run double, Aaron Fest had a two-run single and Jacob Olson hit a double to lead Okabena Legion (10-5) over Slayton Tuesday in baseball action.

Okabena will host Edgerton in the playoffs Friday.

Hadley 7, Windom 6

WINDOM -- With two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Paul Counter singled in Eric Weineke and Matt Ackerman singled in Counter to score the winner for Hadley (10-11, 9-7) in amateur baseball action Tuesday.

Wieneke had three hits, Ackerman had two hits and an RBI, Max Zwart and Zach Bruns each had two hits and an RBI and Jamie Boelter got the win on the mound to lead Hadley.

Kirby Johnson picked up the loss and had two RBIs, while Brett Mattson and Joel Riordan each had two hits to lead Windom (6-10 in league).

Hadley will play in Milroy today.

Worthington Area sweeps doubleheader

MANKATO --Worthington Area Storm swept a doubleheader versus Mankato 6-5 and 6-0 Tuesday in 18-and-under softball action.

Jenny Majerus had two triples and three RBIs and Angela Robinson got the win, striking out six and walking none in six innings in Game 1.

Rachel Kontz had two singles and got the win on the mound in Game 2, striking out eight and walking two, while Robinson and Kayla Lonneman added an RBI each.

Worthington Area will host Cleveland Thursday.

16-and-under softball

Worthington Area knocks off Waseca

ST. JAMES -- Worthington Area left no doubt in Game 1 and won in dramatic fashion in Game 2, knocking off Waseca 26-1 and 10-9 in 16-and-under softball action Tuesday in St. James.

Paige Kinley got the win on the mound and went 4-for-4 at the plate, while Kara Honius went 3-for-4 and Amy Bents and Yadira Barragan each went 3-for-4 in Game 1.

In Game 2, Kinley (2-for-3) drove in Bents with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Kinley also got the win on the mound, while Barragan went 2-for-3 to help pace Worthington Area.

Worthington Area will take on Mankato at St. James Thursday.

REDWOOD FALLS -- Jackson Legion knocked off Redwood Falls 10-4 in baseball action Monday.

Taylor Christopher had three hits, including two doubles and three RBIs, while Boog Steiner added three hits and three RBIs, Brett Larson had two hits and an RBI and Josh Thaemlitz had two hits to lead Jackson.
