Bertha Mae Suby

Bertha Mae (Brua) Suby, 88, was born on April 2, 1925, in Emmons, MN, the daughter of Ole & Bertha Brua. She graduated from high school in Emmons, MN. Bertha married Vernon Suby on July 25, 1943 in Emmons. She and Vernon farmed south of Emmons. In 1960, they moved to Worthington, MN, where they purchased Worthington Block & Tile, along with Keith & Rosella Nerem. They later purchased and operated Currie Block & Tile in Currie, MN until retirement in 1989.

In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bertha worked at West Elementary School, Larsons Jewelry Shop, as well as being an active member in the American Lutheran Church community.

Bertha died on Monday, September 23, 2013 at her home in Worthington, MN, surrounded by her family.

Bertha is survived by seven children: Beverly (Kurt) Rogness, of Minneapolis, MN, Linda (John) Pembroke, of Evergreen, CO, Paul (Moushira) Suby of Lakeville, MN, Tom (Kathleen) Suby of Marshall, MN, Susan (Earl) Standafer of Burnsville, MN, Pete (Jeanne) Suby of Brewster, MN, and Ann Suby of Hastings, MN; 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 brothers: Leroy Brua, Robert Brua, Duane Brua and Glen Brua. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her sister, Lorraine Ellingson, and her brother, Tremaine Brua.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with the Rev. Renee Tecklenburg officiating. Berthas grandchildren will serve as casket bearers. Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Silver Lake Cemetery in Silver Lake, IA.

We would like to give a special thanks to Grandmas loving caregivers over the last four years.

Family prefers memorials to the Alzheimers Foundation.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.
