Bigelow celebration begins today
BIGELOW -- The 12th annual Swampy Days are being celebrated this weekend in Bigelow.
The celebration kicks off this evening with a horseshoe tournament, supper and bingo in the city park.
"The horseshoe tournament starts at 6:30 p.m. sharp," said organizer Connie Reitmeier. "We'll be playing bingo for cash and prizes, and when they take a break, we'll serve them a sundae of their choice or a piece of fresh-baked pie with ice cream as a thank-you for joining us."
On Saturday, a volleyball tournament is slated for 8 a.m., with spots still open for teams, Reitmeier said. Games in the park for "kids of all ages" will include ladder golf and a bean bag toss tournament.
"You can sign up in the park to play in the team competition," said Reitmeier. "We're having inflatables for kids at no charge, a food stand and a truck pull at 2 p.m.
A dance featuring the music of Sideline will get under way at 8 p.m. Saturday.
