AUSTIN -- Head coach Justin Heckenlaible wasn't pleased with his team's efforts Wednesday night.

The Minnesota West men's basketball team lost 65-56 against Riverland in a contest that displayed little promise offensively.

The Bluejays (9-10, 3-3) lost their second-straight Southern Division contest in a game that was well-played defensively, but where the team struggled with shooting.

MW found itself down 25-16 after the first half, but started to make a comeback in the second half.

The Bluejays were down by just two points with a few minutes left on the clock, but Heckenlaible said they simply ran out of gas and the Blue Devils were able to pull away and win the game by nine points.

"It was not a good game for us," Heckenlaible said. "In the second half we did some things we liked. We made a run and forced turnovers. Defensively we trapped and rotated. But we struggled with our shooting throughout the game and that's why we lost."

The Bluejays were led by Jimmy Sebastiano's 15 points. Alan Green added 10 points, Mitchell Olson added nine points, Myler Neal had seven points and seven rebounds, while Luke Roddy had seven points and six assists for MW.

The Blue Devils were led by Denzel Smith's 16 points. Jordan Osberg added 14 points for RCC.

MW's next game is Saturday against Minnesota State Community and Technical College-Fergus Falls in Worthington.

Heckenlaible said the focus in practice until then will be offense.

"We need to execute better on offense, so that's what we're going to emphasize these next couple of days," Heckenlaible said. "We need to figure out how to get in an offensive rhythm and tighten that up. Defensively, we're playing really good. We just need to figure out what we're doing on offense now."
