Body found in burned car in South Dakota sent to lab for autopsy
MITCHELL, S.D. - A burned car retrieved from rural Mitchell and the body found within it have been transported to the State Crime Lab in Pierre, the Hanson County Sheriff's Office reported today.
On Wednesday, authorities said they were investigating a "suspicious" range fire that overtook a car in a rural area about three miles southeast of Mitchell. Authorities also announced the disappearance of 16-year-old Jasmine Guevara, of Mitchell.
A Hanson County Sheriff's Office news release stated today that "the remains have not yet been identified" and an autopsy has not yet been performed. Authorities have said, however, that Guevara's disappearance and the fire are related.
"Numerous interviews are being conducted and will continue as the case progresses," the news release stated.
