Boys basketball: Hills-Beaver Creek rolls past Adrian, SWU rips Red Rock Central

Carey Taubert, a junior forward, led the way with 29 points. Braden Ellingson, Dylan Gehrke and Noah Holthaus each had 13 and Isaac Tilstra scored 10.

Taubert also had 11 rebounds and Gehrke had 14. Ellingson was credited with five assists.

For Adrian, Brady Lonneman scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Nick Reyne had 12 points and Taylor Recker had 11.

Hills-Beaver Creek is 2-2 on the season.

OKABENA — Junior guard Trey Cranston scored 23 points with five steals and three assists to help Southwestern United over Red Rock Central. Levi Taylor had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Wildcats. Teammates Brandon Thurk had 12 points with eight rebounds and Zach Schumacher 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Austin Price scored 20 points for RRC. Sam Halter had 10 rebounds.

EDGERTON — Leighton Sampson scored 20 points and Nate Pfeifle added 15 as Southwest Christian topped Murray County Central.

For MCC, Grant Everson scored 14 points with five assists and Grant Rohrer had 10 points. Zach Ostman pulled down nine rebounds.

CANBY —Josh Gallegos scored 17 points, Kristian Leppke scored 15 and Zach Nuy tallied 10 as Canby defeated Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.

Josh Kirk and Spencer Smith scored 13 points apiece for the Panthers.

SHELDON, Iowa — Collin Wolthuizen scored 21 points to lead Sheldon to victory over Okoboji.

Holt Hunziker led Okoboji with 28 points.

Sheldon is 3-1 on the season.

EDGERTON — Southwest Christian defeated Murray County Central 59-47.

Senior center Leighton Sampson had 20 points, seven rebounds and five blocks for the Eagles. MCC junior Grant Everson led the Rebels with 14 points. Grant Rohrer scored 10.

SWC improved to 4-0 with the win and sits at 3-0 in Red Rock Conference contention.

MLA 73, Fulda 38

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Mountain Lake Area rolled past Fulda 73-38.

Andrew Hempeck and Cody Klassen each scored 15 points for MLA. Carter Kirk added nine.

Fulda sophomore Brian Fenske scored nine points on three 3-pointers.

Ellsworth 59, Edgerton 39

EDGERTON — Ellsworth rolled to a big advantage early and held it throughout its game with Edgerton.

The Panthers defeated the Flying Dutchmen 59-39.

Drew Cheskie scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win. Mitch Leuthold scored 10.

Edgerton’s Wyatt Butson scored 13 points and Austin Mertens scored 12.

Ellsworth now sits at 6-2 and hosts Hills-Beaver Creek Friday. Edgerton travels to Westbrook-Walnut Grove Friday.

ROCK VALLEY —Iowa Class 2A’s No. 4-ranked Rock Valley snuck past George-Little Rock 76-75.

Andrew Van Ginkel paced the Comets with 28 points and Jared Hansen added 27. Tanner Ver Steeg scored 23 for G-LR. Jesse Korselman added 15 points and 11 rebounds, Austin Hayenga scored 13 and David Aeikens scored 11.

G-LR fell to 2-1 overall and hosts MOC-Floyd Valley Friday.

WA 101, W-W-G 82

WINDOM — Windom Area exploded for 101 points to a win over Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

Windom Area won 101-82 on the backs of four players in double-digit scoring. Jacob Gotto scored 24 points for the Eagles. Kyle Antes scored 19, Bryce Bever scored 19 and Tyler Morgan scored 10.

Gotto grabbed 13 rebounds, handed out six assists and collected eight steals.

W-WG had Shane Buchman with 33 points and Alex Knutson with 26.

Both teams shot well from the field in the game. Windom Area went 27-for-31 at the free throw line to help toward the win.
