The Trojans wasted no time in getting the upper hand in their road win, jumping out to a 6-0 lead before MCC was able to score. The lead soon became 10-2, then 23-8. It was 50-24 at halftime.

“We talked about playing without fear,” said WHS head coach Jared Keaveny. “I thought we played a little scared against Marshall.

“The kids responded very well. I thought it was maybe a shot to their pride what happened in Marshall.”

Against Murray County Central, Worthington used a strong rebounding effort to solidify its quick start. The Rebels committed 20 turnovers compared to Worthington’s six in the first half, further contributing to the end result. Keaveny was pleased with his team’s inside game, and when the Rebels moved further in to defend it, the Trojans kicked the ball back out for good three-point looks.

Will Mulder led the Trojans in scoring with 18 points. Spencer Grafing, who hit three three-pointers in the first half, finished with 14 points. Will Dudley also scored 14, and Carter Lindner finished with 11 points to go with eight rebounds. Grafing and Jessie Guerra had three assists apiece.

Logan Kluis led MCC with 15 points.

For the game, Worthington outrebounded Murray County Central 34-25.

Worthington will host Pipestone Area Thursday. It will be only the second home game for the boys’ team so far this season.
