Boys hockey: Luverne dominates Redwood Valley

LUVERNE —Jaxon Nelson and Chaz Smedsrud scored four goals apiece to lead the Luverne Cardinals boys hockey team to a dominating 16-0 victory over Southwest Conference foe Redwood Valley Friday.

Luverne, in extending its 2013-14 record to 17-0-1, scored seven goals in the first period, six in the second and three in the third.

Gunnar Olson and Toby Sengvongxay had two goals apiece. Single goals were scored by Jackson Frankenhoff, Logan Norman, Eric Tofteland and Spencer Swier.

Kendal Meyer was in goal for the first two periods for Luverne and Connor Crabtree was in goal for the third. Luverne had 71 shots on goal compared to Redwood Valley’s 18.
