Boys hockey: Luverne keeps on winning

HUTCHINSON — The Luverne boys hockey team just keeps skating along, winning all along the way.

The Cardinals took care of host Hutchinson 7-1 Friday night to improve to 22-0-1 on the season. Toby Sengvongxay and Gunnar Olson each scored a pair of goals and single goals were turned in by Travis Frakes, Jaxon Nelson and Logan Norman. Chaz Smedsrud had three assists.

Hutchinson is no slouch. The Tigers entered the game with a solid 10-10 record.

“We got a fortunate bounce early — we got a goal. And then we just rolled from there,” said LHS head coach Derrick Brown.

Kendall Meyer tended goal for the Cardinals, who put 32 shots on goal against 18 for Hutchinson.
