Boys hockey: Luverne tops Windom Area, finishes SWC perfectly
WINDOM — Luverne completed a 10-0 swath through the Southwest Conference in boys hockey with a 10-2 triumph over Windom Area Monday night.
The Cardinals enjoyed even goal scoring on the night including two apiece for Gunnar Olson, Chaz Smedsrud, Logan Norman, Travis Frakes and Andrew Verhey. Kendall Meyer had 14 saves on 16 shots faced for the Cards.
Windom Area’s Zach Bartosh and Alex Leopold each had goals for the Eagles.
Windom Area went to 7-13 on the season and to 5-5 in the SWC. Luverne is 21-0-1.
“It was a really slow start, but we had a good second period,” Luverne head coach Derrick Brown said following the win. “To end the conference perfectly is special.”
