Weather delays delivery of today's edition

Brief: Blue Mounds offers programs

LUVERNE -- Several interpretive programs are planned at Blue Mounds State Park.

"Wish Upon a Star," a program about the constellations, will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday. Participants should meet at the Interpretive Center.

"Birding" will be at 10 a.m. Friday. Meet in the shelter at the walk-in campground. "Picture Perfect Prairie," a sunset hike along the upper cliff line to capture photographs, will be at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Participants should meet at the Interpretive Center.

At 11 a.m. July 5, "Prickly Pear Is Everywhere" will feature a short hike to learn more about both species of the cactus at Blue Mounds. Meet at the Interpretive Center. "Floral Frenzy," a look at the many flowers in bloom on the prairie, will be at 3 p.m. July 5 at the Interpretive Center.

"Prairie Animals" will be offered at 1 p.m. July 5 and 6, beginning at the Interpretive Center. Skulls and furs of animals will be displayed, and participants will make a stained glass animal to take home.

Discover the world of insects on the prairie during "Investigate Nature" at 10 a.m. July 6. Meet at the Interpretive Center.

Vehicle permits are required to enter the park.
