LUVERNE — The 30th Annual Buffalo Days festival kicks off this Friday in Luverne and continues through the weekend. As many as 800 bikers who are members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association could be attending the celebration. Their gathering ride fell on the same week as Buffalo Days, so the group decided to join in the festivities in Luverne.

The group will be riding in the Buffalo Days parade, as well as doing a bike blessing and a two- and-a-half-hour ride throughout the area. After the ride, they will gather in the Luverne City Park for live music and fellowship, including a hog roast.

“If the Lord complies and we have beautiful weather, we could have a lot of bikers here,” Luverne Chamber of Commerce executive director Jane Wildung Lanphere said. “That would be really awesome. We really hope the weather holds up.”

Another new event for the festival will be the addition of a pie and ice cream social hosted by the United Methodist Church. That event will occur in the courtyard from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
