Catherine Louise Starner

Catherine Louise Starner, age 92, was born on October 7, 1921, in Hersey Township, Brewster, MN, the daughter of John A. and Ottilia C. (Berreau) Nau. She was united in marriage to LeRoy M. Starner on January 25, 1944 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster. After marriage, they farmed for three years in Westbrook, MN, and in 1947 they purchased the farm where Catherine was born. She worked at Campbell Soup in Worthington from 1958 to 1964. After, Roys death on August 18, 2008, Catherine continued to live on the farm until 2010 when she moved to Petersen Estates in Westbrook.

Catherine was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church in Brewster and sang in the church choir for many years. She was a member of the Rosary Club and made many rosaries for the missions, as well as a member of the WCCW, prayer circle, secret prayer pal and a greeter. She enjoyed making quilts, gardening and flowers. Her family and those that married into it loved her dill pickles. Her goal in life was to be a good wife and mother and she excelled at both. Catherine died on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook, MN.

Catherine is survived by her daughters, Pat (Nick) Henkels of Lake Lillian, MN and Norma (Mike) Roiger of Kimball, SD; sons, Jim Starner of Westbrook, MN and Bob (Tami) Starner of Brewster, MN; six granddaughters; one step grandson; fourteen great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one step great great granddaughter and her sister, Mary Bauchle of Brewster, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years in 2008; son, William in 1953; one granddaughter; one great grandson; her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster, MN, with Father Russell Scepaniak officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Brewster, MN.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013, from 5:00 p.m.to 7:30 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster, MN.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
