Column: WCS hosting many community events
WORTHINGTON -- The hallways are buzzing, the gymnasium is bursting with activity and our community is feeling the presence of Worthington Christian School with this lineup of recent and upcoming events:
The WCS Soup & Pie Supper last Thursday was a huge success! We praise God for cash donations totaling $5,866. What a faithful God we serve. We would like to thank the community for its ongoing support of this rich tradition in our school. The staff, students and parents enjoyed serving you.
Parent/teacher conferences were held last evening at Worthington Christian School. The school year is flying by, and the teachers were very eager to showcase the talents and share the progress of their students. WCS is grateful to have the participation of parents who value a hands-on, Christ-centered education.
Today WCS students are thrilled to be celebrating a goal they reached together by redeeming Box-Tops, Wagon Wheels and Milk Caps. An all-school bowling party is taking place today at Oxford Bowl from 12:30-2:30. Parents of WCS students are welcome to join the fun.
Worthington Christian School is in the middle of another successful Grain Drive. The drive is organized by the WCS School Board with donations designated to the General Fund of the school. Farmers haul their grain to town, sell their desired number of bushels and request the check be sent to the school. We have been blessed by the outpouring of generosity with more than $26,000 donated in the past few weeks. Praise the Lord of harvest!
WCS will be hosting the United Christian Schools Music Festival on Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Students from WCS, as well as Edgerton Christian, Chandler Christian and Hills Christian, will perform a variety of choral and instrumental selections. Join us for an evening of praise as area students display their God-given musical talents.
On Tuesday, Nov. 6, students and parents of WCS will be working at Pizza Ranch earning tips for our Student Fund. Our school will also receive 10 percent of the sales between 5 and 8 p.m. Make plans to come out for a fun night of pizza and fellowship.
WCS will host its first ever Sip-N-Shop Craft Boutique on Saturday, Nov. 10. This event is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We are excited to have 20 confirmed vendors with room for several more.
