ADRIAN — Cox Realty and Land Services LLC of Adrian has hired an additional real estate agent, Dave Hup.

“My husband and I had talked about expanding our business and Dave had approached us,” said Cindy Cox. “He was looking into getting into some type of real estate business. We knew Dave and we knew that with his communication skills and business background, that he would be a good fit for our company.”

Cox said she and her husband had been hoping to expand their business into Luverne, and Hup will help make that possible.

“Alan and I are very pleased to have Dave a part of our real estate team,” she added.

Hup graduated from Luverne High School and worked a couple of years in the Twin Cities before returning to his hometown in 1985. His interest in real estate has grown in the past decade as he began investing in real estate, remodeling properties and then offering them for sale.

“I’ve always sold and bought for myself, and I thought I could fit a niche for a lot of buyers,” Hup said. “With the experience I have, I can look at a property and visualize what (the buyer) wants — if they want to remove a wall or remodel a kitchen.”

What began as a hobby developed into a new career path for Hup. The last house he purchased, he gutted down to the studs, moving walls and installing new floors, ceilings and “the works.”

Hup will continue to operate his pressure cleaning business and, for now, is providing real estate services from his home office. He may be reached at (507) 920-5910 or via email at dave.coxrealty@live.com.

Listings through Cox Realty and Land Services may be viewed at www.coxrealtyandlandservices.com.

Hup attended Kaplan University in the Twin Cities to study for his real estate license. His wife, Teresa, is a financial advisor in Luverne. The couple has three children — the oldest works for the South Dakota Highway Patrol and is a part-time U.S. Marshal, their second son attends college in Crookston for wildlife resources and forestry, and their daughter is studying radiology at Southwest State University in Marshall.

Hup is excited about his new direction in real estate and eager to help those looking to either buy or sell their home.

“If anyone wants to call if they’re interested in purchasing a house, I can go anywhere,” he said, adding that he has a special interest in helping people find and buy lake homes.

“I could go and do all of the research for them,” he said.
