Daily Globe introduces iPad app
WORTHINGTON — Daily Globe readers now have one more way to keep up with all their local news.
The Daily Globe, a Forum Communications Co. (FCC) newspaper, recently launched its iPad app. The app is free through iTunes and gives readers the same local content as they would see online.
The app’s content includes all news and sports stories, photos, obituaries and opinion column features on dglobe.com. Readers are able to control the size of the text and easily navigate through the sections of the newspaper.
The app gives the reader an improved experience by allowing continuous side-to-side scrolling of content.
“Readers now will be able to scroll between articles by the simple swipe of a finger,” FCC Digital Product Development Manager Chris Welle said.
The app is updated throughout the day and offers a simple, clean presentation of content. The app also includes breaking news and video.
In addition, Welle said, the new updates should give the user increased iPad performance.
“We’ve also significantly optimized the app’s performance and reduced the amount of resources it uses on the iPad,” Welle said. “This results in a much smoother and faster experience for our readers.”
Forum Communications Co. is a multimedia information company based in Fargo, N.D. FCC owns dozens of newspapers, websites and television and radio stations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
