A July interview with Alfonso Rodriguez, the man convicted of the 2003 kidnapping and murder of Dru Sjodin, recounted in an article in Thursday’s Daily Globe should have stated that Rodriguez “characterized religion as ‘a bunch of goop.’” The corresponding quote published in the article was incorrect.

Accidents

OKOBOJI, Iowa — The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two-vehicle accident at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday in the 2200 block of 170th Street, near Pride Group. A Godfather’s Pizza delivery vehicle operated by Amanda Howard, 25, of Spirit Lake, was traveling westbound on 170th Street and struck Martha Hayes, 40, a pedestrian and a Pride Group Resident. Hayes was wearing dark clothing and Howard did not see her. Hayes received incapacitating injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Hospital; Howard was uninjured. The delivery vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages. The Okoboji Police Department, Lakes Regional Hospital Paramedics, Spirit Lake First Responders and Arnolds Park/Okoboji Rescue provided assistance.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department investigated an accident reported at 5:22 p.m. Wednesday from Bob and Steve’s Shell. A semi tractor-trailer turned and one of its doors swung open, striking the back of a vehicle.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department investigated a hit-and-run accident reported at 8:32 p.m. Wednesday from Winifred Street.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department investigated a hit-and-run accident reported at 9:01 p.m. Wednesday from Hy-Vee.

LUVERNE — The Minnesota State Patrol investigated a two-vehicle accident reported at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of U.S. 75 and Barck Avenue. A 2003 Ford Taurus operated by Molly A. Bowman, 39, of Luverne, and a 2005 Ford operated by Paige N. Baker, 18, of Luverne, collided in the intersection. Bowman and a passenger, Sophia Bowman, a child younger than age 1, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Baker and her two passengers, Brody J. Kopp, 5, and Ty Z. Kopp, 4, both of Magnolia, were not hurt.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department investigated a hit-and-run accident reported at 2 p.m. Thursday from Walmart. A juvenile male was issued a citation.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Ambulance was dispatched at 9:44 a.m. Thursday to Sunshine Apartments to assist an individual with chest pains.

SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa — The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Samual Perkins, 46, of Spirit Lake, on Wednesday on charges of driving while suspended, no insurance, eluding, expired registration, fraudulent use of registration, obstructed view, failure to obey stop sign (three times) and excessive speed. Perkins had been stopped by a sheriff’s office deputy at approximately 12:49 a.m. Wednesday in the 2700 block of Iowa 9 for expired registration, and after being stopped fled the scene and led a high-speed chase with speeds exceeding 90 mph. Stop sticks were deployed by the Spirit Lake Police Department near the boat ramp on Dickinson County M56 and Iowa 9. The Okoboji Police Department and the Arnolds Park Police Department also provided assistance.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department cited an individual for no Minnesota driver’s license at 7:49 p.m. Wednesday at KFC.

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department investigated shoplifting reported at 9:51 a.m. Thursday from Bob and Steve’s Shell.

WORTHINGTON - The Worthington Police Department received a report of a phone scam at 11:20 a.m. Thursday from the 800 block of Betty Avenue.
