GEORGE, Iowa — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one-car crash reported at 6:22 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of East Minnesota Avenue and South Virginia Street. An investigation showed a southbound vehicle crossed the northbound lane and struck a fire hydrant at the corner of the intersection. The vehicle then left the scene, with sheriff’s deputies later locating the vehicle at a nearby residence. Boyer Nason, 23, of George, was identified as the driver, and was arrested for operating while intoxicated and cited for no driver’s license, failure to maintain control and striking fixtures upon a highway. Nason was booked into the Lyon County Jail.

Scott and Betty Olsem, rural Heron Lake, are the parents of a girl, Kenzie Grace, born May 1 at Sanford Worthington Medical Center. Grandparents are Joe and Carolyn Olsem, Heron Lake, and Jeff and Judy Kummerfeldt, Germantown, Iowa. Great-grandparents are Hugo Haken, Slayton, and Harry and Dee Benner, Las Vegas, Nev.
