ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 7:33 p.m. Thursday on Iowa 9, two miles west of Rock Rapids. Donna Shelly, 73, of Rock Rapids, was driving eastbound on Iowa 9 when she struck a Black Angus calf on the roadway. She reported having possible minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene. The vehicle sustained damages estimated at $10,000.
