David H. Hullerman
David Henry Hullerman, the son of George B. and Bernadette E. (Schnieder) Hullerman, was born on October 29, 1942 at his home farm in La Crosse Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. He attended and graduated from Heron Lake Schools. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force; with them he was stationed in Minnesota, South Carolina and, his favorite station: Thule, Greenland. While in the Air Force he was able to study mechanics. After being honorably discharged he returned home to Heron Lake and began farming. On July 8, 1994 he was united in marriage to MaDonna (Olsem) Marquardt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. The couple continued to farm in La Crosse Township. They raised pigs, cows and were very proud to raise Bison. MaDonna passed away on August 14, 2008. David continued to live in his home until he recently moved to Golden Living Center in Slayton. On March 14, 2014 David Hullerman passed away at Golden Living Center at the age of 71 years, four months, and fifteen days.
David was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. He was baptized, confirmed, and married there. He was a member of the Catholic Foresters and Dundee American Legion. David loved to be outside doing anything, whether it is taking care of his animals, fishing, or building unique fences or a tree house. David was very mechanically inclined. He enjoyed playing card games and board games. He loved to socialize with his family, friends and card buddies.
David is survived by his daughter Chelsea (Tim Hein) Hullerman of Lincoln, Nebraska; his step-children: Curtis (Sara) Marquardt of St. Cloud, Nicole (Darren) Tietz of Windom, and Jolene (Travis) Beck of Jordan; his step-grandchildren Brandon and Hunter Marquardt, Quintin and Hayden Tietz, and Adeline and Oliver Beck. He is also survived by his sisters Germaine Hullerman of Rochester, Minnesota and Marlene (Norbert) Hermes of Salina, Kansas and many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Alvin Hullerman and Richard Hullerman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 21 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake with Father Russell Scepaniak officiating. Burial with military honors, provided by Joseph Suding American Legion Post 386 of Dundee, will be held immediately following the church service at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in rural Heron Lake.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:45 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Friday.
