Authorities from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Pipestone County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident involving LaRock and a male who was allegedly a part of a domestic dispute.

According to information from the BCA, a preliminary investigation found that LaRock was called to a home in the 700 block of Second Avenue West at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday in response to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a husband and wife. Upon the deputy's arrival, a suspect armed with a meat cleaver emerged from a vehicle at the scene. After repeated verbal attempts to get the suspect to drop his weapon, LaRock attempted to subdue the man using his Taser, but the suspect was wearing a thick coat that prevented the weapon from being effective.

LaRock then fired his gun, striking the suspect, who was later taken to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. for treatment. The name of the suspect has not been released.

LaRock is currently on standard administrative leave pending the investigation.
