According to police, a resident in the neighborhood of 10th Avenue East and Kenwood Street reported hearing six shots around 2:30 a.m.

Officers responded to the call, and once on-scene they discovered multiple bullet holes in a vehicle parked in the area before finding an additional bullet hole in a nearby home.

There were people in the house that was shot, and police said they believe this was not a random incident.

Rick Wyffels, Alexandria chief of police, said in a phone interview Monday that officials have not made any arrests in the case, though they continue to follow several leads.

Wyffels said the city has experienced drive-by vandalism before, but "directly pinpointed like this, it's been a while."

Wyffels declined to comment whether or not last week's shooting was gang-related.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Alexandria Police Department at (320) 763-6631 or contact the department through its anonymous tip line on its Web site at www.alexandriapolice.com.
