Drooger's double-double and late tally leads Flying Dutchmen past Raiders, 51-49
EDGERTON -- Alyson Drooger scored the eventual game-winning basket with just under a minute to play Friday night, as the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen girls' basketball team earned a 51-49 victory over the Fulda Raiders in a Red Rock Conference match-up.
Fulda led 44-37 with about five-and-a-half minutes to play, but Edgerton rallied with seven straight points to tie the game, and Drooger later scored to break a 48-48 tie.
After each team made a free throw to make it 51-49, Fulda's Lane Gehl missed a three-pointer at the buzzer to end the game.
Drooger finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds, five shot blocks and three steals for Edgerton, while Kelsey Wolthuizen had 13 points and nine boards, and Katie Hadler dished out seven assists.
Gehl led Fulda with 20 points, while Sam Raddle recorded 11 points and seven assists, and Brooke Kuehne hauled in eight rebounds.
Edgerton (1-0, 2-0) visits Westbrook-Walnut Grove Thursday, while Fulda (0-1, 0-3) hosts Red Rock Central the same night.

HILLS -- With the game tied at 38 in the final seconds, Ellsworth's Rayna Sandoval made a last-second shot to seal the victory for the Panthers over the Patriots of Hills-Beaver Creek.
Ellsworth's leading scorers were senior Brooke Kramer and sophomore Brooke Kix with 20 and 11 points, respectively.
H-BC was led by senior Brittany Helgeson, who notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Jayme Plimpton added five assists.
H-BC (0-1, 0-3) plays at Luverne Tuesday, while Ellsworth (1-0, 2-0) hosts E.C.H.O Charter Monday.

EDGERTON -- Southwest Christian's Courtney DeKam drained a three-pointer off an inbounds play with two seconds remaining in the game to help the Eagles edge the Adrian Dragons.
SWC, which led by 11 at intermission, was led by junior Brianna Spronk with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and sophomore Kara Van Dyke with 12 points and seven boards. Junior Angie Vermeer added 11 points, while DeKam dished out six assists.
Adrian had three players score in double figures -- junior Sam Lynn (20), junior Erica Thier (15) and senior Melissa Weidert (14). Lynn and Weidert also collected nine rebounds apiece.
Adrian (0-1, 0-1) hosts Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Thursday, while SWC (1-0, 1-0) travels to Pipestone Tuesday.

WESTBROOK -- Emily Bose knocked down a game-high 21 points to lead the Murray County Central Rebels past the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers.
Kate Robinson, Alyssa Schmidt and Colleen Everson followed Bose with eight points apiece for the Rebels (1-0, 1-0).
The Chargers (0-1, 0-2) were led by Kylie Erickson with 19 points and five assists. Jenny Hoffman posted a double-double of 11 points and 10 steals, while Audra Schmidt had eight points and eight rebounds.
Taylor Elzenga was strong off the bench for the Chargers, scoring four points and blocking a pair of shots, while Erin Vosberg posted seven points, seven steals and five assists.
MCC visits Windom Tuesday, while the Chargers host Edgerton the same evening.

JEFFERS -- Krystle Sell (18 points, 10 assists, six steals) posted a double-double to pace Red Rock Central to an 18-point victory over Round Lake-Brewster.
Alyssa Fredrickson and Shannon Altermatt scored 13 and 10 respective points for the Falcons, while Kelly Shaner had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Thea Engen grabbed nine boards.
Sarah Schmitz led RL-B with 17 points. Krystle Doeden charted 10 points and six rebounds, while Katy Johnson (seven rebounds) and Chelsea Meyer (three assists) also topped the stat charts for the Raiders.
RRC (1-0, 2-0) visits Sleepy Eye St. Mary's Monday, while RL-B (0-1, 1-1) hosts Westbrook-Walnut Grove Thursday.

BUTTERFIELD -- Brooke DeWall and Adri Rasche each had a double-double to pace the Southwest Star Concept Quasars past Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin.
DeWall had 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Rasche had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Syd Place (10 assists, five steals) and Breanna Rients (eight points, eight assists) were among the other statistical leaders for the Quasars.
Michelle Dirks and Karen Herrig were ML/B-O's top performers with 14 and 13 points, respectively. They each had six rebounds, while Kelly Hempeck hauled in a team-high eight boards.
Both teams play again Tuesday, with SSC (1-0, 3-0) traveling to Blue Earth, and ML/B-O (0-1, 1-0) visiting Martin Luther.

WINDOM -- Paced by a game-high 24 points from Abby Weiss, the Martin County West Mavericks opened their season with an eight-point victory over the Windom Eagles.
Kelsey Jensen scored 11 points, while Kim Fuller and Janaya Anderson each dropped in 10 points for MCW (1-0).
Windom's Amy Robinson scored a team-best 17 points, while Iina Takala charted seven points.
Windom (0-1) hosts Murray County Central Tuesday.

TRACY -- Liberty Robinson (four assists) and Callie Sawtelle (eight rebounds) were the game's leading scorers with 17 points apiece, leading the Luverne Cardinals to a four-point victory over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.
Lindsey Daniels (eight rebounds) and Mallory Fultz (seven rebounds) paced the Panthers with 13 points apiece.

TERRIL, Iowa -- Graettinger-Terril handed the Harris-Lake Park Wolves their third loss of the season Friday evening.
With the loss, the Wolves fall to 0-3 on the year.
Bryanna Gath led the Wolves with eight points and four rebounds. Laura Rowe added five points and seven boards, while Emily Joens posted eight points and five rebounds.
The Wolves host Armstrong-Ringsted Tuesday.
