Earl Erdman

Earl Joseph Erdman, 81 of Lismore, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Minnesota Veterans Home, Luverne.

Earl Joseph Erdman was born May 20, 1932 in rural Lismore to Leo and Josephine (Arens) Erdman. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore. Earl graduated from St. Anthony Catholic High School in 1950. He married Joyce Hoffer on April 14, 1952 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Earl entered the US Army November 17, 1952 and served in the Korean War from May of 1953 through October of 1954. After his discharge from the Army, Earl and Joyce lived on the family farm. They retired from farming in 1994 and moved into Lismore in October of 1997. They spent nine years wintering in Alamo, Texas from January through March.

Earl was a member of the American Legion Post 636 of Lismore and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church all of his life and served on the parish board and cemetery board.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce; his children, Rod (Ruth) Erdman, Pipestone, MN, Pam (Mark) Luettel, Adrian, MN, Peggy (Mark) Meyer, Rushmore, MN, Gail Erdman (Randy Egenes), Primghar, IA and Michael Erdman (Heather Kilheffer), Lismore, MN; 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 9 step-great grandchildren; 2 siblings, Jane (Jim) McAnn, Colorado Springs, CO and Allen (Sharron) Erdman, Lismore; and many nieces and nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Rosemary Holzmer and JoAnn Kontz; a son, Steve and an infant son; a grandson, Robbie Erdman.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lismore, with the prayer service at 4 pm. Funeral Mass 10:30 am Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Lismore.
