Edgerton to host 65th Dutch Festival this weekend
EDGERTON — Edgerton’s annual Dutch Festival is celebrating 65 years of existence this weekend.
There is a new event added to the festival this year, as well as a couple of returning fan favorites.
“The Dueling Pianos and the Andy Gibson band were both really popular last year, and they’re coming back,” said Mary Kreun, who works in the Edgerton city office. “And the cruise-in car show is new for us.”
Edgerton youngsters will also be selling goods throughout the weekend.
“Local youths are raising money for some of their mission trip projects by selling various food items in City Park this year as well,” Kreun said.
The full schedule of events is as follows:
Friday: 5 to 8 p.m. — Cruise-In Car Show on Mill Street near City Park with food stand, beer garden and DJ on site. Participants who bring a vehicle receive $5 off admission to the evening concert. 8 p.m. to midnight — Dueling Pianos followed by the Andy Gibson Band at the west baseball diamonds. 9 to 10:30 p.m. — Teen Swim at the Edgerton City Pool.
Saturday: 6 to 10 a.m. — Pancake breakfast at the Emergency Services building on Mechanic and Mill streets. 7:30 a.m. — Dutch Fun Run, includes a 5k walk, 5k run and 10k run (run starts on the corner of Main and Howard streets), registration begins at 7 a.m. 10:30 a.m. — Kids Pedal Tractor Pull, City Park Tennis Courts (tractors will be provided). Noon to 2 p.m. — Craft fair at the City Park South Shelter; Noon to 2 p.m. — Swimming contests at the City Pool. Noon to 6 p.m. — Bean Bag tournament at the City Park South Shelter (registration begins at 11:30 a.m., and food and beverages will be available). 1 to 6 p.m. — Inflatables with a water feature in City Park. 4 to 5 p.m. — Sidewalk Chalk Art contest on Main Street in front of NAPA. 7 p.m. — Parade. 8:30-10:30 p.m. — Dirt Kickin’ Wicked Good Bull Riding at City Park (tickets available at Drooger’s Food Center, Huisken Market, First State Bank and Katie’s Closet). 10:30 p.m. — Fireworks following Bull Riding event, City Park.
Sunday: 7 p.m. — Worship Service at the football field.
