Edie Jensen

Edie Pauline Jensen, 95, was born on November 27, 1917, in Cameron Township, Murray County, MN, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Thompson) Rambosky. She attended country school in Murray County. Edie married Lester Jensen on January 30, 1942, in Worthington, MN. She loved her church and had a deep devotion to her Lord. Edie volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, bible school teacher, deacon and was active in her church circle and other committees.

Edie volunteered as a Brownie Scout and Girl Scout leader and taught knitting classes at the YMCA to young people. She was active in the Hospital Auxiliary, starting two projects including the Baby Buckle-Up Program and Medical Alert Program, worked as a Home Health Aide and on the Home Health Program for 25 years and volunteered for the Red Cross.

Edie believed in making the world a better place and worked diligently for the DFL Party. She was on the Hospice Building Board and Building Project. Edie was active with the Heart Association, March of Dimes and many other charitable organizations.

Edie loved making new friends and was always searching for new friends. She had a deep love for animals, especially cats, dogs and sheep.

Edie loved flamboyant clothes, cars, motorcycles and speed. She enjoyed driving in many parades and baking and handing out her goodies wherever the spirit moved her. Edie died on Friday, September 13, 2013, at her residence near Worthington, MN.

Edie is survived by her daughters, Patty (Don) Habeck of Brewster, MN and Suzanne Birnbaum of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughters, Rochelle Habeck of Eagen, MN and Melissa (Eric) Roder of Seattle, WA and great granddaughter, Alexis Habeck of Brewster, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester and granddaughter, Tamarah.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Robert Bartlett and Rev. Bonnie Roys officiating. Casket bearers will be David Eaton, Russell Rickers, Bill Keitel, Doug Fransen, Marlyn Boots and Garry Drost. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Sunset Hospice Cottage, American Red Cross or Heart Association.
