Editorial: Ready for Regatta
For the 15th year, Worthington will host its Windsurfing Regatta and Unvarnished Music Festival this week.
Many may remember last year’s event because of the almost non-stop rain that drenched Sailboard Beach. While we can’t do anything about the weather, we’d like to think that we had all the rain we ever needed for Regattas past and future in 2013. We’ve also had a much wetter June than average — a fine thing, indeed, considering well levels that have necessitated a prolonged watering ban — so perhaps this means we’re due for a few rain-free days come Wednesday through Sunday. Maybe someone can come up with the opposite of a rain dance?
Rain or shine, though, this year’s festival is bound to be special once again. Between all the music, food, arts, windsurfing and more, each year’s Regatta is truly a fun-filled family affair and an event seemingly unique to our fair city. We urge you to come down to the lake sometime in the next few days. We’ll see you at the Daily Globe tent.
