Elaine Anna Janssen

Elaine Janssen was born on November 28, 1928 on a farm in Rock County, Minnesota to William and Ella Rockman Lauck. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On June 1, 1948 she and John Janssen were married at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. Following their marriage they farm near Bigelow, MN and later near Reading, MN. In 1970 they purchased a farm north of Slayton, MN where they farmed until 2008 when they retired. They remained on the farm until 2010 when they moved to Westside Apartments in Slayton. In December 2013 they moved to their daughter, Marilyns home near Marshall, MN. Elaine passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD with her family by her side at the age of 85. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton. Elaine enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, playing the piano and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband, John Janssen of Marshall, MN, three children and their spouses, Ellen Olson of Grand Forks, ND, Gerald and Debra Janssen of Balaton, MN and Marilyn and George Bowman of Marshall, MN, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one brother, Lawrence Lauck of Wausa, NE. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Virgil and Herman Lauck.

Funeral services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Doug Minton officiating. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com.
