Ellsworth parade set for the weekend

ELLSWORTH -- Nine World War II veterans from Ellsworth who have taken the Honor Flight Southwest Minnesota journey to Washington, D.C., have been invited to serve as parade marshals for the Family Fun Days parade at 5 p.m. Saturday in Ellsworth.

The theme for this year's parade is "Honoring Those who Serve," and is a tribute to all military people, past and present.

Other events planned during the community's three-day celebration are as follows:


5-7 p.m.: Baked potato feed at Ellsworth school cafeteria, sponsored by the Presbyterian Youth Group.

7 p.m.: Little Miss Ellsworth, school gym, followed by "Minute to Win It" contest with cash prizes to be awarded.

8:30 p.m.: Billy's Bar hosts DJ Mystic Music.


10 a.m.: Volleyball and bean bag tournaments in the school gym. To register, call Clayton or Carla Schilling at (507) 967-2348.

4 to 9 p.m.: Foodstand open at the Senior Citizen Center, serving barbecues, pie and ice cream.

5 p.m.: Parade

6 to 9:45 p.m.: Rides and inflatables at Uptown Park.

6:15 p.m.: Pedal Pull

8:30 to 11:30 p.m.: Teen Dance in the school cafeteria

8:30: Live band, Pirate Taxi, at Billy's Bar outside tent.


9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Pancake Feed at the Ellsworth school, sponsored by the Ellsworth Fire Department.

10:30 a.m.: Community Church Service at the school.

Noon: Concession stand opens in the city park.

12:30 to 2 p.m.: Rides and inflatables.

2 p.m.: Amateur Olympics. Registrations are still being accepted by calling the Schillings at (507) 967-2348.

3:30 p.m.: Cow Pasture Bingo

4 p.m.: Big Ticket drawing.
