Fay Arlene Hartman

It was a snowy, blizzardy night on March 9, 1932 when Fay Hartman was born on the Doeden family farm in Indian Lake Township, Nobles County, MN. Her parents were Edward and Myrtle (Stiegelmeyer) Doeden. She attended the Worthington Schools graduating in 1950. She was active in the school choir, ensembles and sang solos. Fay married Clifford LaVerne Hartman on April 4, 1950 at the Evangelical Church in Worthington. She was a member of the Worthington Christian Church since 1950. Over the years, she enjoyed sewing, making quilts, making greeting cards and working on the family trees. She worked for 24 years in the Veterans Service, Planning and Zoning and later in the Personnel Office. Fay passed away, with family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at her residence in Worthington.

Fay is survived by her children and their spouses, Douglas and Pam Hartman, Princeton, MN, Scott Hartman, St. Paul, MN, Cheryl Coronel, Augusta, GA, Diane and Jeff Meinders, Worthington, MN, Patricia and Ken Henkels, Worthington, MN, Michael and Lisa Hartman, Newberg, OR and Lisa and Scott Dodge, Larchwood, IA; 15 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne, parents, stillborn son, Jon Bryce, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Worthington Christian Church with Pastor Doug White and Pastor John Mulholland officiating. A private family burial will take place at the Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.

Memorials are preferred to Sunset Hospice Cottage or the American Cancer Society.

Benson Funeral Home is coordinating arrangements.
