Federated annual meeting is Nov. 23
JACKSON — The public is invited to attend Federated Rural Electric’s 78th annual meeting Nov. 23 and learn about the electric cooperative’s 2013 accomplishments.
The meeting is at the Five Lakes Elementary School, 714 Victoria St., Fairmont. Federated is hosting a free pancake breakfast for Federated member families from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
During registration, members may also bring up to four fluorescent bulbs to recycle for free, including CFLs and tubes up to four feet in length; recycling of additional bulbs will be available for a fee. Plus, register and receive the co-op’s Annual Meeting attendance gift — a wood-handle ice cream scoop and an LED night light with safety outlet.
During registration, members may visit Federated’s booths for information on Federated’s money-saving programs, Exede Internet, Heartland Security Services, electric fireplaces and grills. In addition, wholesale power supplier Basin Electric Cooperative will have a display area with electrical products and technology.
The 38th round of Operation Round Up funds will be announced at 8:45 a.m. with a slide show. Approximately $14,495 was awarded to 24 local organizations. Operation Round Up is a program where participating Federated members’ electric bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar. This money goes to a trust fund, which the Trust Board oversees, and is awarded twice a year to organizations serving Jackson and Martin Counties.
SonGQuesT, a local acapella barbershop quartet, will perform for the audience from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Once the meeting starts at 9:45 a.m., Federated members will learn about the cooperative’s highlights for the year. President David Hansen and General Manager Richard Burud will give reports on the year in review and a preview of the 2014 opportunities. Retiring Director Jim Oltman, Granada, will be recognized for his 20 years of service to the cooperative.
Members will also elect two directors and one member to serve on the Nominating Committee.
