Final phase of Minnesota 60 work to begin July 9
MANKATO -- The third and final phase of the Minnesota 60 expansion in Worthington is set to begin July 9. Work on Minnesota 60 from north of Nobles County 35 to Interstate 90 will result in lane restrictions this year, but no detour until 2013.
The two-year project includes the complete reconstruction of Minnesota 60 and I-90 ramps, including the construction of roundabouts at the eastbound I-90 ramps and the U.S. 59/Minnesota 60 intersection. The intersection at Armour Road will be controlled with stop lights. The project also includes the construction of a major storm sewer to drain rainwater from the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge underpass.
Motorists should drive with caution through the work zone and watch for workers, equipment and traffic control devices. Motorists also are advised that when construction begins later this summer on the westbound I-90 ramps, traffic accessing I-90 will be routed to the Highway 59/I-90 ramps in Worthington.
R & G construction of Marshall is the contractor on the final $14.55 million project.
Phase one and two of the Minnesota 60 expansion remain under construction with a detour to Nobles County Roads 4, 5 and 34 until late fall.
