Food safety certification courses offered
MARSHALL — University of Minnesota Extension will offer courses to help food service establishments meet the educational requirement for certified food managers.
The initial certification course, using ServSafe curriculum, will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Oct. 30 at the SW/WC Service Cooperatives in Marshall. Participants must attend the entire session to be eligible to take the certification exam, which begins at 4:30 p.m. The seven-hour course includes information on safe food preparation, handling, sanitation and prevention of foodborne illnesses. Registration is due Oct. 16.
Certification renewal for food managers is from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29, at the SW/WC Service Cooperatives in Marshall. Certified food managers need four hours of continuing education credits within three years of becoming certified. Registration is due Oct. 15.
