GIRLS' BASKETALL ROUNDUP: Drooger scores 1,000th career point as Edgerton defeats Southwest Star Conept

EDGERTON -- Needing 27 points to eclipse the 1,000-point mark, Edgerton's Alyson Drooger didn't waste much time in Friday night's Red Rock Conference game against Southwest Star Concept.

With 10:14 remaining in the game, the left-handed Drooger made a right-handed shot around SSC's Katey Granstra to give her 1,001 career points.

She finished with 28 points and seven rebounds to lead Edgerton to a 74-55 victory.

Emily Sluis had 12 points for the Flying Dutchmen (8-6, 6-5), while Racheal Steffl had seven rebounds and Katie Hadler had a team-high six assists.

For SSC (7-11, 5-6), Erika Post had a season-high 17 points, while Granstra finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.

Jenny Doherty and Michaela Rasche each had three assists for the Quasars, who will travel to Ellsworth Thursday.

Edgerton will host Lakeview Monday.

SLAYTON -- Kate Robinson and Emily Bose each recorded double-doubles to lead Murray County Central.

Robinson had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Bose added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Rebels, who led by 13 points at halftime.

Colleen Everson had 10 points, and Alyssa Schmidt added 10 points and five steals for MCC (12-6, 9-4), which will host Madison, S.D., today.

Brooke Kix scored 12 points, Andrea DeBoer had eight, and Rayna Sandoval added five for Ellsworth (7-9, 4-7).

BUTTERFIELD -- Abby Hanenburg scored 14 points, and Jada Vander Veen had 11 to lead Southwest Christian to a victory over Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin.

Brianna Spronk added 10 points for the Eagles, who led by 18 points at halftime.

Abby Halter scored 14 points, and Jennie Romsdahl had 12 points and five rebounds for the Wolverines (1-16, 1-10).

Macy Svalland added eight points and five rebounds for ML/B-O, which will host Round Lake-Brewster on Thursday.

ADRIAN -- Three different players scored 19 points or more to lead Adrian to a Red Rock Conference victory.

Karli Meyer had a game-high 24 points and four assists, while Sam Lynn scored 20 points, had eight assists and seven steals for the Dragons (16-0, 11-0).

Erica Thier finished with 19 points and four assists, while Katy Slater and Kelsey Altman pulled down 10 and nine rebounds, respectively.

Chelsea Meyer scored 13 points for Round Lake-Brewster (4-12, 1-10), while Karen Schmitz and April Wallace each scored 10 points.

Mara Eichenberger added seven assists for the Raiders, who will host Luverne Monday.

Adrian will host Fulda Thursday night in a key conference clash.

JEFFERS -- Four players scored in double figures to lead Red Rock Central over Hills-Beaver Creek.

Krystle Sell scored a game-high 18 points to go along with five steals for RRC (12-3, 10-1), while Steph Maras, Thea Engen and Nichole Schroeder each scored 10 points.

Engen added nine rebounds, two blocks and three steals, while Schroeder added seven rebounds and three steals for the Falcons, who host Sleepy Eye St. Mary's in Jeffers Monday.

H-BC was led by Heather Kerner's 11 points, while Jayme Plimpton scored six and Kelsey McGuire scored five.

The Patriots will host Luverne Tuesday.

JACKSON -- Shooting a blistering 28 of 32 from the free-throw line, the Jackson County Central girls picked up a Southwest Conference victory Friday.

Leslie Handzus scored a game-high 19 points, and was 8-for-8 from the line.

Whitney Burmeister scored 17 points and had seven rebounds on an 11 for 11 showing at the charity stripe.

Ashley Kruse had 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals, while Brooke Burmeister added 14 points, 12 rebounds and four steals.

Courtney Kruse had six assists for JCC (14-4, 6-2).

Morgan McKittrick had 16 points for Marshall, while Dani Beekman had 12.

JCC will host Fulda today in an afternoon game.

CORWITH, Iowa -- Anna Brandt scored 18 points and dished out five assists to lead Harris-Lake Park to a 28-point victory against Corwith-Wesley-Luverne Friday night.

Logan Hiveley scored 14 points for the Wolves (5-11, 3-7), while Kristin Larson had 13 points and seven rebounds.

Deni Peters scored seven points, while Jena Peters had seven rebounds for the Wolves, who had a 12-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

H-LP will travel to Clay Central-Everly Tuesday night.

INWOOD -- Megan Grooters scored 12 points, and Abbie Ackerman added 11 to lead Central Lyon past West Lyon.
