Girls basketball: Redwood Valley nips JCC; Madelia and T-M-B prevail
JACKSON — Redwood Valley took home a win, in a nail biter over the Jackson County Central Huskies Tuesday night in girls basketball action.
Sub-par free throw shooting and a key late game turnover sealed the Huskies’ fate in their heartbreaking loss.
JCC was led by Kaylee Burmeister who had 23 points and six rebounds. Julia Schumann pitched in 13 points and three steals while Rachel Johnson added 11 points, five assists, and four steals. Sydney Eddy crashed the glass for JCC, reeling in eight rebounds.
Senior Tara Sandgren headed Redwood Valley’s effort with 17 points. Also in double figures were Makenzie Mace with 12 points, Mary Fixsen 13, and Lauren Hanson 10.
Red Rock Central 63, Madelia 29
LAMBERTON — A huge night from freshman Rachel Kedl paced the Red Rock County Falcons to a substantial win over Madelia.
Kedl had a double double, scoring 16 points while grabbing 14 rebounds. Melanie Kedl also contributed 12 points and Olivia Bittner chipped in nine. Brooke Rasmussen had a good night in the passing department as she dished out nine assists.
Leading Madelia was Carina Aquilar with nine points.
RRC improves to 6-4 overall with their victory over the Blackhawks.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 75, Westbrook-Walnut Grove 43
WESTBROOK — Strong second-half defense paced the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers to a 75-43 victory over the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers.
A duo of Cassandra Hook and Sara Stoneberg led the Panthers, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The Chargers were given a steady effort by Elizabeth Woelber’s 11 points and six assists.
Also pitching in were Emma Woelber with eight points and three assists, Juliana Pederson with eight points and Mady Johnson with three steals and four assists.
The Chargers fall to 1-5 in the Red Rock Conference and 1-11 overall.
