Girls basketball: Thier hits game-winner as Adrian clips RRC

ADRIAN — Elizabeth Thier ended a memorable night by hitting a game-winner on a layup with 14 seconds left as the Adrian Dragons toppled Red Rock Central, 56-54, in a high school girls basketball matchup Friday night.

Thier had an imposing triple double by scoring 22 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and seeking out her teammates for 10 assists. Jodi Bents added 16 for the Dragons.

Cassie Erickson scored 13 for the Falcons. Brooke Rasmussen added 12 and Rachel Kedl scored 14.

Adrian is now 3-14 and 3-7 in Red Rock Conference play. The Dragons play host to Mountain Lake Area on Monday. Red Rock Central is now 8-8 overall and 5-6 in the league. The Falcons face Springfield Thursday in Lamberton.

Martin County West 63, Jackson County Central 52

JACKSON —  Kate Thiesse led the Martin County West Mavericks to a non-conference win over the Jackson County Central Huskies.

Thiesse scored 18 and Taryn Tumbleson added 16. Reilley Geistfeld chipped in 12 for MCW as well.

Kaylee Burmeister scored 17 points to go with seven rebounds. Rachel Johnson also added 17 points for JCC

Marshall 78, Luverne 32

MARSHALL — Roaring out to a 58-19 halftime lead, the Marshall Tigers (15-1) remained undefeated in the Southwest Conference (8-0) with a 78-32 win over Luverne.

The Cardinals (5-12, 2-6) were led by 10 points from Morgan Haugen and seven from Tara Sudenga.

Central Lyon 55, Boyden-Hull 32

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa – Ivy Sieperda led Central Lyon with 13 points, five assists and four steals, and teammates Sarah Halse and Angel Rasmussen added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Halse also had seven rebounds.

Baily Ten Haken and Kaylee Anderson scored eight points apiece for Boyden-Hull, which dropped to 2-17 with the loss.
